Website Enhanced
The KWC has taken another step towards its inaugural season today,
with the enhancement of the website -
www.kartworldchampionship.com. Various features will be added in
the coming days and weeks, and the confirmation of the host venue
will be announced soon.

British Championship Update
Ex-British Kart Champion, George Lovell claimed victory at the
opening round of the British qualifier for the KWC, the BRKC. Lovell
won two of his three heats, along with the A-Final to move into the
early points lead of the BRKC. There are five rounds remaining to
decide who will join Team GB at the 2012 KWC.

Social Media Update
The Kart World Championship team have now added a Facebook fan
page as well as a Twitter account to the line-up of social media
associated with the KWC. Expect frequent important updates in the
coming weeks!

Huge Interest Sparks Mass Entry
Entries for the 2012 KWC opened at 8.00PM CET. Since then, the
KWC has been overwhelmed by fantastic response from drivers, with
64 Standard class drivers alone entered within two days. The great
interest underlines what a brilliant event the 2012 KWC promises to
be.

KWC Payments Open
Payment can now be made on for entries into the 2012 KWC via the
PayPal payment system on the How to Enter page of the KWC
website. Drivers wishing to pay by bank transfer should email
info@kartworldchampionship.com.

McManus Leads British Championship
The British qualifier for the KWC continued yesterday at the World
Class PFi circuit. Northern Irish driver Aaron McManus took the win
and the championship lead. 2011 Team GB driver Anwar Beroual
Smith won the Heavyweight class. The eventual winners of both
classes will join Team GB at the World Championship this year.

Medart Wins Italian Championship
Yoan Medart took victory at the 2012 CIKI national rental kart series

Vervisch Wins BIKC
Frédéric Vervisch wins inaugral Belgian Indoor Karting Championship.
Former German F3-champion and SuperLeague Formula driver
Frédéric Vervisch, has won the inaugural Belgian Indoor Karting
Championship, in Eupen. The Belgian driver won the heavily
contested final with Vice-Worldchampion Maximilian Beer coming
home second, before local hero Kevin Caprasse. Régis Gosselin
finished 4th after a non-stop battle with reigning World Champion
Kenny Geldhof, who completed the top 5.

Rubin Wins Rio Qualifier
On April 29th Humberto Rubin won the first brazilian national qualifying race in Rio de Janeiro.
The championship was raced on similar rules to 2012 KWC, but on an Outdoor Track in the small
town of Guapimirim 40 Km north of Rio. Rubin scored two victories and one second position on the
four qualifying races, then took away the Grid formation Match Race on a very close decision with
Fabio Konrad. With a broad advantage before the final, Rubin had to finish among the first 6
positions to win the title independently from other drivers result. he finished 1st on the final
leaving no margin for discussions. Humberto Rubin has won the a free entry and an airline ticket to
participate in KWC and try to bring back to Brazil the world title lost in 2010 and 11. Runner up
Fabio Konrad well known for previous participations in the world championship finished 10 points
behind Rubin making no vicories in the qualifying races but finishing among the 4 first positions in
every race. Konrad got a free entry to KWC and is now doing his best to find a sponsor to cover
his remaining expenses. Three points behind Konrad, we had Guiga Rocha and Carlos Nadaes tied.
Guiga took the third place trophee home on the untying result. He scored two victories against one
victory from Nadaes. We also saw good performances from Felipe Piatigorski, Lucas Motta, and
Otavio Porto. For those that don´t remember Otavio had to abandon the world championship
Junior category in 2009 when he was leading the championship. The second qualifying series will be
raced in the city of Paulinia state of São Paulo, and the third and last in the city of Nova Santa Rita
in the far south of Brazil. Below the results of the Rio de Janeiro Qaulifying event:

Nations' Cup Rules Posted and Entries Open!
The popular Nations' Cup element of the Kart World Championship
returns for 2012. The full rules have now been posted on the KWC
rules page, and entry forms and payments can now be completed on
the new Nations' Cup page.
The competition promises to be intense - with a very strong German
contingent in particular looking for the honours.

Wojcik Wins PIKC
Przemyslaw Wojcik won the first Polish national qualifying championship (Polish Indoor Kart
Championship) in Szczecin at the Silver Gokart Center. Second was Piotr Piernicki (both are local
drivers). Third was Arkadiusz Steckow. The top 3 won a free entry to KWC 2012 and a discount on
helmet painting.
40 drivers from Poland started in the PIKC. After qualifying races three leaders were ahead (Kot,
Steckow, Wojcik). The first semi-final was won by Piotr Piernicki. The second semi-final was won
by Piotr Podbielski and the leaders were in trouble. Kot and Steckow ended 8th in their semi-finals
and Wojcik 4th. The final race was very exciting. Kot and Podbielski fought for 2nd position in the
first corner, they crashed and Piernicki and Steckow took advantage of it. Piernicki tried to fight
with Wojcik for the first position, but he didn’t find the right place to make it. Results of the
final: Wojcik, Piernicki, Steckow.
